Expecting Julia

It was a fall Saturday morning when Ana Paula came back to do more photos now this time with a very shy husband Diego. He was a challenge, serious and bashful but we managed to get some giggles out of him. As he kept saying, if my friends saw me now, what would they say of me holding this pink doggie or doll? and believe me there was lots of pink all over. Here are some of my favorite shots of the both of them.

Double Trouble

During the past month I had the pleasure of photographing twins. Now not an easy task because it is hard enough to get one child to smile and look somewhat towards you- lol so now to get two, double work. But I must say these twins give their parents double the love, double the inspiration and double happiness. They are adorable and here are a few of my favorite pixs.

I cheated in Photography Class

So we hit 14 degree F this week and the snow is hard as ice outside and I can not help remember my sophomore year in high school back in 1994 when I cheated on a photography assignment. My teacher was Mr. Murphy and it was freezing cold weather and I had taken a picture of a residential parking lot filled with the same kind of frozen snow I see now. There was nothing grandiose about that picture, kind of sad actually, a few cars parked, bad winter afternoon lighting and a lonesome dog in the back, but I remember it was a good shot and Mr. Murphy thought so as well. For our final assignment, I do not recall what we had to shoot but I do recall how I was too busy or too lazy to do the work and I picked up someones film roll in the dark room and I developed it! Shame on me! Mr. Murphy of course found out because someone else had turned in the same assignment and he pulled me over to chat. He was such a gentlemen, slick and soft spoken and he did not have to say much, I just wanted to melt like that snow eventually would and disappear. I apologized and knew I had learned a great lesson in those few moments. As I see this cold weather and feel it, it still bugs me that I did not take the class seriously til the end but that I gave up, I gave in to my lazy ass self. Here are a few shots of my boys in the snow as a tribute to Mr. Murphy wherever he may be.

The Tourist

A few months ago, an acquaintance of mine from my hometown in Brazil said she would be visiting the East Coast before she would venture out to her work exchange in a Ski Resort in Lake Tahoe. I offered her to stay with us if needed and at first it was planned for two days but things did not work out that way. Her friends would not be in the city on the dates she would so she ended up staying a full week. I had the pleasure of being a host but the ironic thing was she knew more than I did. She was so excited and vibrant to plan her daily trips to NYC and I stopped to think how I have been here 22 years and do not know half those places she listed let alone visited them. So my new year's resolution is definitely to go out more, to visit more, to sit around and talk and laugh more and next time someone wants to come over I will be wearing my tour guide hat with map in hand! lol. Here are some of our trip shots.

Keeping it Personal

So this blog is supposed to be about my work as a photographer but as a photographer, you can not help your self but to document things in your life, big and small and I just have to share because photography is all about capturing that moment in time and make it last for a pretty good while. Here are a few personal pictures of some current events in my life. Enjoy.
